  • February 2005

    Computer distribution and training nights held at Springfield Middle School. All parents and students participated. Students take computers home for the first time.

    First day of school with laptop computers, February 7th.

    Press conference at Springfield Middle School.

Staff attend additional training at Springfield Middle School to learn more about subject specific applications for the laptop computers.

Student naming contest winner announced, the laptop program at Springfield Middle School is officially named Springfield Teaching and Reaching Through Technology (S.T.A.R.T.T).

    Staff attend additional training at Springfield Middle School with Apple certified trainer.

    Student iBook computers are delivered to SMS.

    Computer orientation nights held at Springfield Middle School. All parents and students participated.

Design work begins on the wireless computer network at Springfield Middle School.

May 2004:

Apple provides a demonstration of one-to-one laptop concepts to Springfield Middle School staff.

Springfield Middle School Principal and teacher team visit Gunderson High School in San Jose California, a school already involved in a one-to-one laptop initiative.

A management team from Springfield Public Schools visits Gunderson High School and the administration offices at San Jose Unified School District to discuss the one-to-one laptop initiative.

Apple Computer presents the concepts of one-to-one computing at a community meeting involving Springfield School Board members, Team Springfield Members, local elected officials, and District Administrators.
