Student Account

A personal folder accessible to only the individual knowing the login password is available to each Briggs Middle School student for use in backing-up important documents and files. For example, if you are working on a project in the library and need to finish it in the computer lab, it will be accessible both areas. The knowledge that one's files are secure as well as available from any computer within the district makes the Student Account Folder a handy tool.

A student account must be activated before it can be accessed. To activate a student account, click on the link below. You will be prompted to choose a password. When the account is activated, you will be given an account name, which is usually your
last name.first name. It is important to remember your account name and password.

To Access Your Student Account Folder

1. Click the Finder Icon on the dock (blue smiley face icon)
2. First select "Go" from the top menu and select "Connect to Server"
3. Enter smb://file1/studenthome/account name
4. Press "Connect"
5. Enter your network user name (account name) and password.

When you are finished saving your work in the folder, it is important for you to log off the computer, throw the mounted share in the trash, or click on the arrow in the Finder to remove it from the desktop. If you do not do this, the next person sitting at the computer will have access to your files.
