The Title VII Indian Education program is a federally
funded program designed to work with Native students and families,
and local education authorities to create a successful public
school experience for Native students.
Utilizing this grant, The Springfield Public Schools Office of Indian
Education has implemented several goals to achieve, which include:
- High Retention Rates
- Greater Academic Success
- Increased Cultural Knowledge
- To Raise Self-Esteem
- To Increase the Number of Students Seeking Placement
in Post Secondary Institutions
- Free school supplies to families in need
- Tutoring in all academic areas
- Mentoring for at-risk students
- Weekly culture classes
- Academic advising
- Advocacy for students and families when working
with local administrators
- Support with families working with the local
Juvenile Justice System
- Class presentations
- Culture events
In addition to these goals, the intent is to help
educate the mainstream population of the diverse Native cultures.
