A bond measure to upgrade and renovate all Springfield schools
was approved by voters on the Nov. 7, 2006, ballot.

Bond projects have been divided into two general categories:

New School Design: Replacement of two of the district's oldest schools (Thurston Elementary and Maple Elementary)

Status: Site and floor plan schematic drawings have been finalized and accepted by the Board.

(Please note these drawings do not reflect several small details still to be included by the architects.)

Bond Basics: Upgrades that protect the community's investment in our existing schools. Every school will benefit from some renovations.

Status: Many projects were able to be completed this summer (look for the signs around town!), and more are scheduled for the upcoming two years. Click here for more on Bond Basics projects.

Background: Springfield schools face a number of problems as a result of aging facilities:

• 18 of the district's 24 schools are more than 40 years old.
• 8 of those 18 schools are more than 50 years old.
• There have been no bond-funded renovations, upgrades, or improvements to district facilities in more than 9 years.
