Project Overview

Students collaborating on a podcasting projectThe Springfield Podcasting Showcase provides a forum for highlighting student work produced under the guidance of their teachers. These projects feature original work and demonstrate the skills of our students in areas including writing, oral reading fluency, expression, and creativity.

At the elementary level, these projects provide a students with a wide range of opportunities. Struggling readers are able to read aloud and then listen to their recordings, providing feedback on their oral reading fluency. Talented and gifted students are able to express their creativity by including additional elements such as music and sound effects into their podcasts. At the middle and high school levels students of all abilities are able to produce work that demonstrates their understanding of core content.

In additional to learning content, students are also learning new technology skills, troubleshooting, and problem solving. They are also learning the importance of project planning, how to produce a product for an audience, and the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and good communication skills.
